Here is another reason to get an air fryer! No oil tortilla chips flavored with whatever seasonings you want. I made a seasoning blend of nutritional yeast, chili powder and salt for these. You could use just chili powder and salt if you wanted, you could spray it with vinegar and do a sea salt and vinegar flavor.
3 corn tortillas are 100 calories. Traditional tortilla chips are 140 calories and 6 grams of fat or more for just 10 chips. So you can see the benefit of making them yourself. Then there is the fact that you can make yourself a single serving- of just the 3 tortillas worth of chips, you can eat them all without guilt and you will probably not get up and make more, unlike bagged chips where you can just keep eating.
To make these chips first get your air fryer heating up. I spray the tortillas with water and then sprinkle with the seasoning. Stack them up and cut into triangles. Put the chips into the air fryer. It takes just about 5 minutes but check half way through and then again just before the 5 minutes is up. You should know then if you need to add an extra minute or so.
These chips are best eaten right away, they tend to lose their crispiness if left to sit too long.
